How GluteGuard Works

GluteGuard is uniquely formulated to help minimise the occurrence of debilitating symptoms experienced after accidental gluten ingestion.

When taken immediately before a meal, GluteGuard’s enteric coating enables it to pass through the acidic environment of the stomach and into the duodenum where the coating immediately dissolves, releasing the natural caricain enzymes and allowing them to have effect during the digestive process. Caricain is able to hydrolyse key peptide bonds within the gluten protein before interaction with the intestinal lining, leaving behind smaller fragments that continue through normal digestion.

As a listed complementary medicine (AUST L 277307), GluteGuard is designed to help reduce the incidence of symptoms caused by inadvertent gluten ingestion. It is intended for use ‘as-required’ in situations where there is a risk of accidental gluten exposure. This is particularly important when food preparation is out of the individual direct control such as dining out or traveling. Even tiny amounts of gluten can cause severe symptoms in those with gluten-related disorders, and cross-contamination is surprisingly common.

GluteGuard is recommended for anyone with medically diagnosed gluten sensitivities who wants protection when eating meals prepared by other people in case of cross contamination or a mistake in the kitchen.

GluteGuard is recommended to be used in conjunction with a gluten free diet as a reinforcement in dining situations where there is a risk of accidental gluten exposure. It is not a treatment or cure that allows intentional gluten ingestion and cannot replace a gluten free diet.
